How to get started with design projects?

What is your design process while creating a design, what are the steps?

I will require some pretty basic things prior to starting any projects that can range from:

  1. A Design Narrative/Reason.
  1. A Final Written Copy is in place for the design.
  1. One Reference/example.

Basically, I use one concept method while creating a design.
While working on a design the workflow looks like this: One Mood Board > Grayscale Draft > Design Review/Feedback > Design Updates > Final Design.
 

Which software will you use for creating designs?

→ My primary softwares for creating the designs will be Adobe photoshop and Adobe illustrator.

Are the designs completely custom-made and unique for us?

→ YES mostly, all the designs created while working together will be custom-made, also through my current experince i can ensure that they will be custom-made most of the time unless, it was mentioned clearly by you (the client) that we won’t mind a template customised as per our needs to speedup the process a bit, or if you wanna hit a timeline, date of launch, marketing campaigns etc.

Will you use templates while curating our designs, and will you let us know about that?

I have worked both ways, i will say only one thing here that is it depends and mostly in the situations where i have utilized pre-made templates are while working on weekly campaigns, and promotional designs that are on a very tight schedule, which was planned just few days prior the launch date and also, yes it was mentioned clearly prior in our conversations that we can utilize the templates from stock websites so there won’t be any unclear air there, that’s it. → Also, I ensure you that my first choice is always to make custom-made designs created just for you, as i got the hang of it and now i know where things go, and i understand the patterns of what works and how it works, so i got your back, i promise!


How will you manage a recurring task, will you create a new design again every time for it?

→ For the recurring task i would recommend curating a custom template that we sit and talk throught by deciding;
  1. Main requirements and points of communications and message, based on which
  1. I will then create a template that can be utilised for the recurring tasks weekly, monthly, bi-weekly.

How will you maintain the brand style across all the platforms while curating the design concept and theme?

A. As a Designer, while creating a design for any media, we also have to maintain a visual and written continuity that’s an important part of our job, so to the brand’s style;

The few intial steps can look like;
  1. Maintaing the brand’s logo legebility and readability.
  1. Keeping few reserved spots for the brands logo.
  1. Defining & Maintaing the brands colours, and fonts as the same throughout.
  1. Defining a consistent style of typography.
  1. Defining and Maintaing a type of photography.
  1. Keeping a consistent tone of voice through out all the visuals, and much more.

How will you form a concept for the visuals as per request, what are the phases?

→ The general phases while creating a design are pretty known and out there, however, I would define it this way;
  1. Putting all the info received by you (the client) in a mindmap.
  1. Then looking for similar kinda look and feel references on Behance, and other similar sites.
  1. Looking for fonts and typography inspo.
  1. Then gather all the above 3 steps and curate a mood board which shows you a solid visual and creative direction.
  1. Once approved, I will then move to designing the graphics and elements.

How do you prepare a rough draft for the design, what will you include in that draft?

→ The rough draft of the design will be a wireframe grayscale version of design with gray tones of colors, this will be shared with you for the feedcak as the first draft, you can check if the dirction we are heading in is visually appealing to you or any updtaes are required.

What’s your availability on a day-to-day basis?
My live business working hours for the project will be, 4 hrs.
Monday - Friday
9 AM - 6 PM IST

What medium(s) will you use to communicate with the team mostly?

→ A Custom notion portal would be the main point of contact for all our work conversations.

For weekly meetings, one google meet link will be shared, that will the same link for our video meets and calls.

What is the ideal turnaround time for the designs?

The ideal turnaround timeline for the designs depends on the schedule and urgency of the design.
→ if the design is required on an urgent basis it will be executed with less amount of effort and will be created on time bound basis.
→ if the design is a marketing campaign or the launch which is planned ahead of time it will be created by that decided schedule.

What is the approximate response time for the e-mail?

→ While Working Hours: 30 min to 1 hour depending on the urgency of the e-mail.
→ While Away From Work: 5 to 4 hours/or one day depending on the timezone we live in.

How well do you manage projects timeline, what will be your first priority?

→ The project timelines will be decided on terms of project urgency and live date for the project.

Will you provide source files of the projects?

→ Yes, the source files like: PSD, Ai, SVG, etc. along with the JPEG/PNG exports of the design will be provided

What if I need another concept for the same design, will you charge separately for that?

→ You can request that if you need another concept for the design, it will additionally charged on fixed range of price.

How will you troubleshoot a dispute of miscommunication or missed timeline, or deadline?

→ I will hold myself accountable and will deliver the tasks on a timely basis, that's a promise.
→ However there are some days when there might be a miss, then I will clearly let you know if any schedule changes come in the way, to be on the same page and avoid any miss - communication, that way.

Can I request an additional service?
You can request for an additional service prior starting a project, and i can schedule and see if that comes under my scope of work or not. I will let you know then and there.

Do you have a refund policy?
Being in the digital design service once agreed and signed the contract, there won’t be any refund!!
